Got Lucky with Money

It is a rare occasion in India wherein people dispose of unnecessary things from their homes. Well, today I got lucky for the second time when another of my colleagues relocated to a newly purchased house near Delhi.

Apparently she decided to get some new furniture for the new house. She decided to sell and dispose off certain items.

I was lucky in a way that I was the first one whom she informed about her moving. I was immediate and asked are you disposing off your dining table. She said Yes and I was the first one to book the dining table free of cost. The table is a 6 seater wooden table with an antique look. I came to know later that the dining table is an antique and was auctioned in US embassy some 20 years back. The price that I paid for the table is Nil. I had saved some Rs. 20000 to purchase a new dining table which I was gonna purchase in a few days. I used the money to purchase some stocks in the falling Indian Stock Market.

I had got a double bed the same way I got the dining table.

This is another use of leveraging my relationships.

Grabbing Free Money

If you want to grab free money then you should adopt the following. This method has no side effects, though this is not advisable to people who are newly married or have girlfriend’s obligations.

Grab or volunteer for any outstation assignment or a tour. This might be toil on some but outstation tours can be of great benefit to improve upon your assets.

First: All your expenses are reimbursed by the company you are working for. Suppose you spend 3 days for an outstation visit you will save on your travel cost and your food cost, you might incur some phone charge but the differential will be positive. I saved on nearly Rs 400/- on a two day visit.

Second: while purchasing or paying for any services you pay through your card that will accumulate points besides getting 100% cash back from your company.

Third: you will develop your career as an asset and good positive image in the company.

So next time you get an outstation assignment grab it!

Free Gift Coupons

Yesterday I received free gift coupons of nearly 10 restaurants in Bangalore. These were given to me by my telephone service provider Tata Indicom as a gift. I also won a free tour to 30 exotic locations within and outside India.
This is the first time that I have won something in the past 28 years of my life. Undoubtedly I am little circumspect of the tour, but I have tested the free vouchers at the restaurants.
The free tour is of 3 days 2 nights stay for a couple at the exotic locations of the likes of Bangkok, Phuket, and Pattaya in Thailand and Khajuraho Mysore etc. in India. The tour is valid till December 2007 with 7 days of advance notification. I have enough time to test that.
I used one gift voucher already, it feels very nice to have a free meal that too the three course meal. Later today I passed the whole set to my mentor and colleague at the workplace. I had to give her a gift, so why not a free gift of free gift.
This, I think is the compensation for my overuse of my phone connection.Soon I am getting rid of the connection, its eating up my money.
